Whitney, you own an online newspaper in town? That's great news (and I mean it both ways.) Also, a doctor told me recently that the highest use of Ozempic-like drugs in the U.S. is in Kentucky. I wonder if this makes more sense to you than it does to me... xo
Hello, Val! Yes, last year I got so fed up with there not being any actual news locally, and in a place that is changing so rapidly, that in a fit of exasperation, I started my own news outlet. I didn't really think it out much before I did so, but it's doing really well, I am delighted to say! I am now raising funds to have a print version, too.
As for Ozempic, that is interesting. I vaguely remember seeing something about it being prescribed here by Medicaid, but that it was now endangered by the new administration. I will have to look into that. Maybe there is a story there. Thanks for the tip! xx
Thanks, Val. After being so sick for so long it was real kick in the butt, because I could only publish what I had in the can, but now I am back out there doing enterprise stories. I also had a piece picked up by the statewide news service, so it's coming along. It's called The Edge (Reporting from THE EDGE of Appalachia...) theedgebereaky.substack.com

W — I thought it might be interesting to you! And how I love it that you’re producing the local news! xo
